GUGOGS March 2025 Group Survey Results – Final

Please explain any suggestions you have for how the group might change in terms of meeting formats and approaches? – 13 Responses

I think everyone and everything is wonderful as is. I don’t feel qualified to make any suggestions for any changes as I am Not able to regularly attend GUGOGS nor am I able to do service for the group, at least not at this time. However, I enjoy and benefit from attending the meeting when I can. You all are so devoted but as usual a few do most of the work. To add a night meeting, sure that sounds great but would there be enough people able to do service to run any more meetings. I guess the bottom line for me is… don’t fix what’s not broke… but I look forward to hearing what the regulars, the heart and soul of GUGOGS have to say. Yours in fellowship and gratitude Theresa

I like the weekly meeting readings, it would be nice to maybe to add As Bill Sees It and A New Pair of Glasses, (alternate or rotate out). Also, I love hearing the speaker meetings. I have been keeping my ears peeled and looking for speakers to forward to Jim. I love, love, love this meeting and the people. Thank you for all you guys do to make this meeting happen every day. ❤️

I’m not opposed to an evening meeting but I guess that being said I just don’t drive at night so I would attend virtually.

Happy with format

Some meetings later in the day will enable us to attract those people in earlier time zones

I think the meeting format is informative and spot on.

If a book study or some other kinda GUGOGS activity blossomed… perhaps it should be taken to Zoom instead of call in 🤔

Perhaps we might meet in person and on Zoom just for our beginner’s meeting.

Could add an evening meeting to reach other Alcoholics.

Maybe one more in person

I am happy with the current format. If this is in relation to the previous question, by evening I mean prior to 8pm

I would like another in person option. I also think the option for zoom could be interesting to consider, but there is something nice about the call in only format.

Please explain any ideas you have on what could replace our monthly speaker meeting. – 3 responses

Regular meeting — chairman’s choice of reading material

I think we should replace this with a focus on emotional sobriety. We could have someone who agrees to lead this discussion on an going basis. This person could have guest discussion leads as they see fit. I also think this could be done on the 3rd Saturday … so that our 3rd Saturday we focus on Emotional Sobriety and our 3rd Sunday we dedicate to Meditation

Rather than replace the speaker meeting I would like to suggest that we have speaker meetings every Sunday except for the third Sunday when we have the mediation meeting.

Please explain what other AA or related literature could be considered for the group use on a regular basis? – 4 responses

24 hours a day reading; no big book stories— as bill sees it topic readings

I would like to suggest that we replace Living Sober with the six week suggested guidelines for running a beginner’s meeting as outlined on A.A.org. This would also allow for more spirit of rotation and the opportunity for beginners to get to know more people. We can invite people from other groups to lead as well.

As for our Saturday meetings I would suggest using one book to guide us. As Bill Sees It is a good one or whatever the group decides.

Would be nice to mix up the literature. Perhaps we can have rotating literature options on Wednesday and Monday, but keep living sober, big book study, and 12/12 as constants.

Please explain your feedback and ideas about supplemental activities you are interested in the group adding. – 12 Responses

Retreat with focus on emotional sobriety through meditation and literature

Would the retreats, step studies, etc. be on phone line or in person? I would love a May meet up—I’m in Texas, but I will get out there to Georgia (eventually) to meet all of you. He! He!

I would thoroughly enjoy a retreat and more possible in person meetings. I think it would foster greater connection which is instrumental in sobriety. 😁💖

Book study!!

We should experiment with a retreat workshop before the end of June. Possible retreats might be 4th Step Workshop, Toxic Shame Workshop, Emotional Sobriety Workshop, or a 10th Step Workshop.

I enjoy getting together more often vs the virtual meeting, regardless of the activity, as long as it’s support related

Additional ops may help folks who have different learning styles

I’d love a book study… Always dreamed of having a book study on “Sermon of the Mount”

Dedicate a Saturday or Sunday to reading and studying one AA related topic; for example Emotional Sobriety.

I would be very interested in and excited to participate in all of the examples listed above, particularly ongoing book study as I really enjoy when I have been provided/recommended additional sobriety literature

Maybe some more in-person gatherings on special days, every few months. Could do a breakfast meeting or something. I enjoy the Friday meeting so much it would be nice to hold a special in person meeting and have something to look forward to..

I would like to have multiple options for supplemental activities in event that I can’t make one there is another chance. Weekday lunch, weekend party both sound nice.

Do you have any other thoughts or concerns you’d like to share with the group? – 10 Responses

It’s possible for us to consider doing a supplemental book study on a book like 12 Essential Insights For Emotional Sobriety or New Pair Of Glasses. This could be done in an evening if there was sufficient interest.

Appreciate the leadership of GUGOGS!

I wish I lived closer. I live in Mason Michigan

Yes. Perhaps switch off every other month or on some periodic basis with some evening meditation mtgs. Or, have a monthly evening meditation meeting in addition to the monthly morning meditation meeting. It may attract some others who cannot get up early on a Sunday, especially those in other time zones, and, since I will be in an earlier time zone it will enable me to continue leading. We may want to have the evening meditation meeting be a Zoom meeting if I am organizing providing a different experience

Sharing length can be long at times.

All good, I love GUGOGS and am so happy to be part of such an amazing group!

I am also fine leaving everything as is. Love Gugogs!!!
