So, my business is to go about His business, and it’s His business to take care of me. That is not my business, that’s His business. Now what is His business that I’m going about? Helping His kids do things they need to get done because I want to. (Page 105)
Two verses popped through my head and I wouldn’t take a million dollars a verse for them. The first one was this. Seems like the Carpenter was walking down the road one morning and somebody wanted something and yelled at Him, “Good Master, Good Master.” And the Carpenter walked over and looked at the guy and said “Why do you call me good? There is none good but one, and that’s the Father.” This is the Carpenter talking , mind you. A little later someone says “Hey … you’re doing some fancy miracles. How do you do these things?”… And the Carpenter said “I don’t. Of myself I can do nothing. It’s the Father within. He does the works.” I wouldn’t take a million dollars apiece for those two verses, because at the second I said to myself, “If it’s good enough for Him, it’s good enough for me.” And it made it unnecessary for me to try to be good, or to try to be so damned accomplished. You know? If it’s good enough for Him, it’s good enough for me.
And so I’ve lived my life from then until now in total expectation of His guidance and direction. I changed Step Eleven a little bit for me. The way I use it now, I get out of bed in the morning and I say “Look, Dad I’m reporting for duty. Now I’m going to do the best I can with what I’ve got and all I want out of you is a little guidance and direction and the power to carry it out. Sure thank you.” And I go about my business, totally expectant of His guidance and direction. (Pages 51,52)
